Wank Punter To Perform At 8th Annual "Everthing To Do With Sex Show" In Toronto Controversial Canadian rock band Wank Punter has announced that they will be performing at the 8th annual “Everything To Do With Sex Show”, in Toronto on Saturday, October 20, 2007 on the Feature Stage. The band will also be hosting a booth on the show floor, manned by XXX Film Stars Regan Anthony and Ryder Skye, along with KSEX Radio personality Tony Batman. The 2007 Sex Show will be causing quite a stir this weekend at the International Centre, 6900 Airport Rd., with sexy seminars, seductive attire, sinful toys and much X-rated fun spread out over three days.

With hundreds of exhibitors showing thousands of high-quality products and services and tens of thousands of people expected to attend the sex-themed consumer show Friday to Saturday, sex, romance, wellness and education will be thrust into the spotlight.

Along with racy fashion shows, entertainment on the mainstage this year features the newest, wildest Toronto band to emerge onto the music and porn scene, Wank Punter.

The six-piece porn-rock band -- as seen on Playboy TV -- are set to rock the Sex Show at 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Do good girls watch porn?

If not – or if so – does that make them a good (or not) person?

Trying to figure out the differences is not a simple task. It's not made any easier by watching roughly seven hours of feminist porn. (Although, washing down a giant bag of frozen licorice, with a jumbo coffee, is more conducive to thought than one might think.)

The research materials came courtesy of Toronto sex shop Good for Her and resembled work that was showcased at the shop's second annual Feminist Porn Awards last Friday.

The awards honour films that involve women who are positively and actively involved in porn industry roles ranging from actresses to directors. Anyone who thinks they know what female-oriented porn looks like might be shocked at how explicit this material is. No soft lighting, medieval dresses or long-haired men on unicorns in sight. It's porn.

Or, as shop manager Chanelle Gallant says: women enjoying pleasure and creative control, working with men who don't resemble overbaked slices of Peking duck.

This Friday hundreds – perhaps thousands – of sex enthusiasts will head to The Sex Show at the International Centre, near Pearson International Airport.

The three-day event, featuring porn icon Ron Jeremy, promises workshops on everything from fitness, Tantric sex and body oils to bondage gear.

There will also be porn and it's unlikely the majority of it was created with feminist sensibilities in mind. (The chance to win free breast implants is the tip-off.)

No matter your views on porn, can't we all agree that watching a band called Wank Punter would be worth the price of admission? Come on, they're giving away a guitar.

But back to bad girls and good feminists: If your interest is piqued by mainstream pornography – where we assume women are basically props – or if you like it, does it make you anti-feminist? Not a good person?

If you get turned on by feminist porn, can you still be considered a good, or virtuous, girl?

That some pornography objectifies and demeans women is about as certain as the fact water runs downhill. How different genders process pornography, and what that says about perceptions of women, isn't quite as simple.

That's one of countless points being tackled by Dr. Bobby Noble, assistant professor in the new Sexuality Studies program at York University. The first class graduated in April; the program operates within York's Women's Studies program. Students enrolled in Noble's year-long course – nicknamed Porn 101 – take on three months of theory before their first film.

Noble says women who watch porn can sometimes be stigmatized – he explains some might see it as: "There is no way to be a good woman who watches porn."

He says it's important to recognize feminist porn isn't the only porn "good" for women, a point its creators also admit. Rather, it's just picking up on the complexities of conventional porn and turning the vantage point on its head.

Labelling mainstream, or mass-distributed, porn as "bad," or assuming the women and men who watch it are anti-feminist, is just too simple a conclusion to draw.

It's a difficult concept for some, but good women watch porn – all kinds. You're not a bad girl if it takes a few dozen films, or trade shows, to figure out what turns you off – or on – or whether you want anything to do with porn at all.

If you're worried about what people think, just call it research.

How can the land that spawned both Tina Tyler and Rush not be sexy? The Sex Show, a production of Exotica Canada to be held at Toronto's International Centre (Hall 5) on June 8 and 9, features the standard passel of porn star appearances (Sunny Lane will be cavorting onstage with "porn-rock" band Wank Punter) and adult product exhibitors, but also offers a large slate of consumer-oriented seminars, including "The Secrets of Male Multiple Orgasm" (which would get real messy real quick unless your receptacle was open-ended). From the Hallways of the Fort to the Small Screen

Fort Saskatchewan Record — Her remarkable journey has taken her from the East Coast, Lamont, to the Fort, to the West Coast.
For Amanda Druken, who goes by the stage name of Dark Bonita, the trek has been eventful.
"I absolutely did not think for a second when I was going to school in the Fort that I’d be where I am now. I had no idea whatsoever," said Druken, who now calls the Toronto area home.
"At that time I don’t think that I’d even be in Toronto."
She and her family, that still live in Bruderheim, originally called Newfoundland home.
"I just wasn’t a big fan of small towns. I lived in Bruderheim and went to school in Fort Saskatchewan. The biggest place I had ever lived in had only 1,100 people. That got to me eventually, I thought I was too big for small town life. I saw where everybody else was going and I didn’t like it."
She now splits her time between touring with the Ontario band, Wank Punter, and operating her own business, Masquerade Entertainment.
"I met them when I was doing event planning for swingers clubs. I was in a partnership with another girl doing parties in the escort industry. I needed some help with web hosting and that’s how I got in touch with Marshall," said Druken.
"He liked the concepts that I had. Soon he decided to take it a step further and incorporate music into the parties. We can’t be too serious when you’re singing about sex and porn," she said with a laugh."
You can see Druken if you’ve got a computer starring in the band’s first music video, ‘South Pole Boogie’.
"I wanted to do something that was outrageous and that pushed the limits. By marrying porn and rock n roll I was lead to the Wank Punter concept," said Marshall Stack, Wank Punter’s producer.
"The song took off on the internet and its been leading us ever since. The demand for the song, and the music video that eventually came out has been overwhelming."
The video for ‘South Pole Boogie’ pays homage to an adult film star, Mike South.
"We’re definitely a live band you can’t really get the full effect from listening to the CD," said Druken.
The band’s blues – rock sound has garnered them the attention of some big names in entertainment including Playboy TV who has asked them to perform live Aug. 11.
They’ll be feature entertainers on the program Night Calls Live, hosted by Jessie Jane.
"They sent me a press kit. One of the things that I’m looking for in the bands is that they can somehow tie into the show , the theme and the content of it," said Derek Harvie of Playboy Studios, producers of Night Calls Live.
"The bands play us in and out of breaks, they play whenever guests enter and exit the show as well wrapping up the show at the end. They act like a house band, but they’re gone the next week. Most of the bands we’ve had on are up and coming bands like Mondo Generator, and Buckcherry. As long as the bands are good and can connect with the content of the show then we’re good."
In addition to their live performance the band has sold broadcast rights to their song ‘Supersize Me’ to the show.
"The one thing that was cool about them was when we first talking I was looking for a new theme song for the show. They submitted a cool song that we didn’t end up using, but that we use occasionally," said Harvie.
Reality has not yet set in for her or for the group.
"I never thought that this would get this far, especially when we started out just to do this for parties. Now that we’ve got this far it’s really exciting for all of us," said Druken.
"I think that this will all surprise my friends out west. I haven’t stayed in touch with a lot of them. I think it would surprise them to see where I am. It’s definitely made me grow as a person. If I had stayed there I don’t think that I’d be the person I am today."
Her interests in her high school years were boys.
"I didn’t think about what I’d do after - school, I was too busy with friends, boys, and hanging out."
Amanda’s younger brother, Rodney, looks to his sister for inspiration.
"She’s my entrepreneur. She has taught me a lot and keeps me out of trouble," said Rodney.

Her parents are both very supportive of her.
"My Mom loves that I’m going to be on T.V. She’s really excited about it. I think as long as I’m not in porn she’ll be supportive of whatever I do," said Druken.
"I don’t talk to my Dad as much as I do my Mom, but from what she’s told me he seems to think it’s pretty cool too."
Stack told the Record that Wank Punter will be embarking on a cross country tour later this year.
Until then if you’re heading east this summer you can catch them playing at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto, July 29.

Playboy TV's "Night Calls" Returns Tonight

HATSWORTH, Calif. - Playboy TV’s “Night Calls” with hosts Jesse Jane and Kirsten Price returns to the air tonight, after a month-long hiatus. 

Featured guests will include “P.I. to the Stars” John Grogan who will offer tips on how to catch your mate cheating and demonstrate polygraph testing. Also appearing will be Roxy Jezel, the newly crowned winner of “Jenna’s American Sex Star,” along with Crystal from Indiana, the latest SugarDVD promo winner to visit Los Angeles and play with Jesse Jane. 

Kröl Vodka will be the official drink sponsor of the evening and will be pouring all of the drinks from the Night Calls Bar during tonight’s taping.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Wank Punter and visual entertainment by Spearmint Rhino strippers, as well as Demo Girls Nevaeh, Carli Banks, Karlie Montana, Kelle Marie, Cassidey and AJ Bailey. 

“Night Calls” will air live at 9 p.m. ET, rebroadcast at 10 p.m. PT.

Rock Band Wank Punter Signs Deal With Playboy

TORONTO - So-called porn rock comedy band Wank Punter has signed an exclusive licensing deal with Playboy for the rights to the song “Super Size ME!”

The Toronto-based band’s song is an ode to Digital Playground contract star Jesse Jane and her "Night Calls" show airing on Playboy Television, where it will air on April 28 as part of its “Best of Night Calls” segment.

The band’s debut CD on the RA Records label, “Wank Punter,” is now available in retail stores, including the Record Man, CD Plus and other retailers and on the band’s Web site, www.wankpunter.com and other online distributors.

Marshall Stack, said the deal with Playboy gives the band a chance at increased name recognition.

“Hopefully, this will amount to more sales and stronger brand awareness for RA,” he said, adding that his label plans to push the band through strategic placement ads in both, mainstream and adult-oriented media.

The band was formed in February 2005 as an effort to mix the its love of music, comedy and porn, the group’s Web site says. Its members are Feedback, Drip Dry McFly, Gunnar Lingus, Joey A. Bigapini, Discombobulator and Wonderbread.

Among their porn idols is producer/director Mike South, of whom they sing about in their song “South Pole Boogie.”

Hailing from Toronto Canada, it would seem odd that a band well over 5000 kilometers away from the epicenter of porn would be singing about the porn industry with such insight and frankness. One would think that they actuallylived or are living the life after reading some of the lyrics they have penned.

Upon speaking with Feedback, the de-facto leader and founder of the band, my instincts proved correct. Not only has he been in the adult biz for a considerable period of time and in many capacities beginning as a driver foran escort agency, his background in mainstream entertainment had him experiencing a number of intriguing situations where he sat and watched two worlds collide.

Not that hes ready to mention any names, but hes seen a few execs and cultural icons from the mainstream world unwittingly expose their proclivities for service providers of all stripes. He states, that in and to itself provides more than enough material for future songs.
